Game On (2002 game show)
Game On was an American game show that aired on UPN from March 11, 2002, to May 17, 2002. The show was hosted by Ricki Lake and featured two teams of three contestants, typically friends or family members, competing in physical and mental challenges based on popular arcade and home video games.
The format of Game On involved adapting video game concepts into real-world challenges. Teams competed in rounds inspired by games like Pac-Man, Tetris, and Space Invaders. Success in these challenges earned them points. The team with the most points at the end of the show advanced to the bonus round, where they had the opportunity to win a grand prize.
The show was known for its high-energy atmosphere, humorous commentary from Lake, and elaborate set designs that recreated the look and feel of classic video games. While Game On attempted to capitalize on the popularity of video games at the time, it faced competition from other reality and game shows, and ultimately, its run was short-lived, lasting only one season.
