Clockers (film)

Clockers is a 1995 American crime drama film directed by Spike Lee. It is based on the 1992 novel of the same name by Richard Price, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Lee.

The film explores the lives of drug dealers, or "clockers," in a fictional housing project in Brooklyn, New York. Strike Dunham, played by Mekhi Phifer, is a young drug dealer working for Rodney Little (Delroy Lindo), a local drug kingpin. When a rival dealer is murdered, Strike becomes a suspect. Detective Rocco Klein (Harvey Keitel) investigates the case, suspecting Strike's involvement while also becoming increasingly suspicious of Rodney and his operation.

Clockers delves into themes of poverty, violence, morality, and the complexities of urban life. It examines the societal pressures that lead young men to become involved in the drug trade and the consequences they face. The film also offers a critical perspective on law enforcement and the challenges of solving crime in impoverished communities.

The film features a soundtrack of contemporary hip-hop and R&B music, further immersing the audience in the world it depicts. Clockers is known for its realistic portrayal of street life, its strong performances, and its thought-provoking exploration of social issues.
