Predicament (2008 film)

Predicament is a 2008 comedy-horror film directed by Jason Stutter. It is based on the novel The Predicament by New Zealand author Ronald Hugh Morrieson.

The film follows the misadventures of teenager Cedric Williamson (played by Jemaine Clement), his slightly unhinged friend Mervyn Hepworth (played by Tim Finn), and Mervyn's sister, Zina (played by Emily Barclay). Set in small-town New Zealand in the 1930s, the trio stumble into a series of increasingly bizarre and macabre situations involving stolen corpses, questionable relationships, and general social awkwardness.

Predicament is known for its dark humor, quirky characters, and distinctive visual style, attempting to capture the eccentric tone of Morrieson's novel. While it received mixed reviews upon its release, it has since gained a cult following for its unique brand of Kiwi comedy. It received nominations at the New Zealand Film and TV Awards.
