Chris Pappas (American politician)
Chris Pappas (born June 4, 1980) is an American businessman and politician who has served as the U.S. Representative for New Hampshire's 1st congressional district since 2019. He is a member of the Democratic Party.
Prior to his election to Congress, Pappas served on the New Hampshire Executive Council from 2013 to 2019, representing the 4th district. He is also a co-owner of the Puritan Backroom, a family-owned restaurant in Manchester, New Hampshire.
Pappas is a graduate of Harvard University, where he studied Government. He is openly gay, making him the first openly gay person to represent New Hampshire in Congress.
His political positions are generally considered to be center-left. He has focused on issues such as small business support, healthcare, and environmental protection. In Congress, he serves on the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and the Committee on Veterans' Affairs. He has also been involved in efforts to address the opioid crisis and lower prescription drug costs.
