Gold (crater)
Gold is a lunar impact crater that lies on the far side of the Moon. It is located within the Mare Ingenii, a lunar mare that lies within a larger impact basin. To the northeast of Gold is the crater Thomson, and to the southwest is Van de Graaff.
The crater is relatively small and cup-shaped, with a simple, bowl-shaped form. Its interior is unremarkable and lacks a central peak. The rim is well-defined and shows little sign of erosion. The albedo of the crater's interior and surrounding ejecta appears similar to that of the surrounding mare surface, suggesting that it is filled with basaltic lava.
The age of Gold crater is estimated to be relatively young, based on its sharp, well-defined features and the absence of significant degradation. It is believed to have formed during the Copernican period.
