John Rodgers (bishop)

John Rodgers (1856-1940) was an Anglican bishop in Ireland. He served as the Bishop of Killaloe and Clonfert from 1919 until his retirement in 1935.

Rodgers was educated at Trinity College Dublin. He was ordained a deacon in 1879 and a priest in 1880. He held several positions in the Church of Ireland before being elected bishop, including curate of Clones, rector of Carrickmacross, and archdeacon of Clogher.

As Bishop of Killaloe and Clonfert, Rodgers oversaw a diocese that included parts of Counties Clare, Galway, and Offaly. His episcopate coincided with a turbulent period in Irish history, including the Irish War of Independence and the establishment of the Irish Free State. He played a role in maintaining stability within the diocese during this time.

Following his retirement, Rodgers lived in Dublin. He died in 1940.
