Deep Blue (great white shark)

Deep Blue is a particularly large and well-known female great white shark ( Carcharodon carcharias). She is estimated to be over 20 feet (6 meters) long and is believed to be one of the largest great white sharks ever recorded. Her age is estimated to be around 50 years old, making her one of the oldest known individuals of her species.

Deep Blue gained significant notoriety through various documentaries and encounters with divers, particularly around Guadalupe Island, Mexico, a known aggregation site for great white sharks. These encounters have allowed for close observation of her size, distinctive markings, and relatively calm demeanor. Her considerable girth often leads to speculation that she is pregnant when observed.
