Schimmert

Schimmert is a village in the municipality of Beekdaelen in the province of Limburg, Netherlands. It is situated approximately 8 kilometers east of Maastricht.

Geography:

Schimmert is located in the hilly landscape characteristic of South Limburg. The surrounding area is primarily agricultural, with fields and orchards.

History:

The history of Schimmert can be traced back to Roman times. It developed into a village over the centuries. Historically, it was an independent municipality until 1982 when it merged with other municipalities to form the municipality of Nuth. In 2019, Nuth merged into the new municipality of Beekdaelen.
