Pierre Henry (painter)
Pierre Henry (1828-1903) was a French painter, known primarily for his genre scenes and landscapes. He was born in Rocroi, Ardennes, France, and studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris under Léon Cogniet and Paul Delaroche.
Henry's work often depicted scenes of everyday life in the French countryside, featuring peasants, farmers, and village life. He employed a realistic style, focusing on detail and the depiction of light and atmosphere. His landscapes often showcased the beauty of the French countryside, particularly the region around Rocroi.
He exhibited regularly at the Salon in Paris from 1851 onwards. While not considered among the most famous painters of his time, his work was well-received and is represented in several museums and private collections. He achieved a degree of recognition and commercial success during his lifetime.
