Bijan (designer)
Bijan Pakzad (1940-2011), known mononymously as Bijan, was an Iranian-American menswear designer and founder of the House of Bijan. He was known for his opulent and exclusive boutiques, particularly his flagship store on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, California, which famously operated by appointment only.
Bijan established his brand in 1976 and quickly gained a reputation for luxurious and expensive clothing, fragrances, and accessories. His designs catered to a wealthy clientele, including celebrities, politicians, and royalty. He utilized exotic materials and employed vibrant color palettes, distinguishing his aesthetic from more traditional menswear designs.
Bijan fragrances, produced in partnership with various companies, became a significant part of his brand's identity. These fragrances were marketed with the same emphasis on luxury and exclusivity as his clothing lines.
Following Bijan's death in 2011, his children, Nicolas Bijan and Alexandra Bijan, have continued to operate and manage the House of Bijan. The brand maintains its presence on Rodeo Drive and continues to offer high-end menswear and fragrances.
