Madson (TV series)

Madson was a short-lived American sitcom that aired on CBS as part of its 1996-1997 television season. It starred Dabney Coleman as Harry Madson, a widowed, curmudgeonly English professor at a small college. Harry's life is complicated by his teenage daughter, Kelly (Marin Hinkle), who is somewhat rebellious, and his housekeeper, Iris (Debra Jo Rupp), a well-meaning but often clumsy woman.

The series revolved around Harry's attempts to balance his academic career with raising his daughter and dealing with the various eccentric characters in his life, including his students and colleagues. The humor was primarily derived from Harry's sarcastic wit and his struggle to adapt to the challenges of modern life.

Madson was created by Bob Newhart and produced by Witt/Thomas Productions. It premiered in September 1996 but was cancelled after only six episodes due to low ratings. Despite its short run, the show has gained a small cult following in subsequent years.
