Bill Thomas (American writer, born 1934)

Bill Thomas (born William Eugene Thomas on August 11, 1934, in Buffalo, New York, died March 23, 2009, in Sarasota, Florida) was an American writer known primarily for his series of adventure novels featuring the character Tuck Tucker, a deep-sea diver and treasure hunter. He also wrote non-fiction books, often centered around topics related to the ocean, boating, and Florida.

Thomas received his bachelor's degree from Syracuse University in 1956 and served in the U.S. Navy. Before becoming a full-time writer, he worked in advertising.

His Tuck Tucker novels, starting with Island Treasure in 1984, were popular for their fast-paced plots, exotic settings, and nautical detail. The series continued through the 1990s.

Thomas was a resident of Sarasota, Florida for many years and was actively involved in the local community. He was a member of the Mystery Writers of America and the Florida Writers Association.
