Jamali (band)
Jamali is a South African all-female R&B/pop music group. Formed in 2004 during the first season of the South African version of the Popstars reality television show, the group originally consisted of Jacqui Carpede, Liesl Penniken, and Mariechan Luiters.
Although they did not win the competition (finishing second to the male quintet Ghetto Lingo), Jamali was signed to Sony BMG and became a successful act in the South African music scene. They released several albums, achieving platinum and gold status for album sales. Their music incorporated elements of R&B, pop, and soul.
The group was known for their strong vocal harmonies and individual vocal talents. They disbanded in the late 2010s, with each member pursuing solo careers.
