OR52K1

OR52K1 is a human gene that encodes a member of the olfactory receptor family. Olfactory receptors are G protein-coupled receptors located in the olfactory sensory neurons of the nasal cavity. These receptors play a critical role in the detection and discrimination of odors.

The human genome contains a large number of olfactory receptor genes, estimated to be around 400 functional genes and several hundred pseudogenes. These genes are organized in clusters throughout the genome. OR52K1 is located on chromosome 11.
