Barry Cowan (tennis)
Barry Cowan (born 10 March 1974) is a British former professional tennis player and current tennis commentator.
Cowan reached a career-high singles ranking of world No. 165 in September 2001. While he never won an ATP Tour title, he is best known for his performance against Pete Sampras at Wimbledon in 2001. In the first round of the tournament, Cowan took Sampras, then a seven-time Wimbledon champion, to five sets before losing. This match significantly raised Cowan's profile within British tennis.
Following his retirement from professional tennis, Cowan has worked as a tennis commentator and pundit for various broadcasters, including Sky Sports and the BBC. He also participates in exhibition matches and charity events.
