Asiaweek

Asiaweek was an English-language news magazine focusing on Asian affairs, published in Hong Kong from 1975 to 2001. It was founded by Michael O'Neill, a former correspondent for Time magazine, and initially focused on Southeast Asia before expanding its coverage to include the entire Asian continent.

Asiaweek offered in-depth reporting on politics, economics, business, culture, and social trends across Asia. It was known for its detailed regional coverage and its emphasis on Asian perspectives on global events. The magazine also featured profiles of influential figures in Asian society and analysis of key issues facing the region.

Throughout its history, Asiaweek competed with other international news magazines such as Time, Newsweek, and The Far Eastern Economic Review. It was acquired by Time Inc., a division of Time Warner, in 2000. Publication of Asiaweek ceased in December 2001 as part of a restructuring effort by Time Warner after its merger with America Online (AOL). Despite its closure, Asiaweek remains a significant historical record of Asian affairs during the late 20th century and is often cited as a valuable resource for researchers and historians.
