New Democracy (North Macedonia)

New Democracy (Macedonian: Нова Демократија, Nova Demokratija) is a minor political party in North Macedonia.

The party was founded in 2008 by Izet Zeqiri, after he left the Democratic Party of Albanians (DPA). He served as the party's president. New Democracy primarily represents the Albanian minority population within North Macedonia.

While New Democracy has not achieved significant electoral success to gain parliamentary representation on its own, it has occasionally participated in coalitions with other parties, particularly those representing the Albanian community. Its political platform generally focuses on issues related to the rights and representation of Albanians in North Macedonia, including advocating for greater cultural and linguistic rights, improved economic opportunities, and increased participation in government.

The party's influence has been limited due to the presence of larger and more established Albanian political parties in the country, such as the Democratic Union for Integration (DUI) and the Alliance for Albanians (AA). New Democracy typically aims to provide an alternative voice within the Albanian political spectrum, often criticizing the policies and actions of the larger parties. It remains a relevant, albeit small, participant in North Macedonian politics, primarily focused on advocating for the interests of the Albanian population.
