Timothy Foster (settler)
Timothy Foster was an early English settler in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Born in England, he immigrated to the New World in the 1630s, becoming a freeman in Ipswich, Massachusetts in 1635. He was a proprietor and prominent member of the community, participating in town affairs and holding various local offices. Foster was involved in land distribution and agricultural activities. Records indicate he owned several parcels of land and contributed to the agricultural development of Ipswich. He was also a member of the local church. His life reflects the typical experience of many English immigrants who sought religious freedom and economic opportunity in the early years of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. He is considered an ancestor of many later Fosters in America.
