Arthur Kent (songwriter)

Arthur Kent (born Arthur Catterall Kantrowitz, November 18, 1920 – October 28, 2015) was an American songwriter, best known for composing numerous popular songs from the 1950s through the 1970s. His work spanned a variety of genres, including pop, easy listening, and country.

Kent collaborated with various lyricists, most notably with Sylvia Dee. Together, they wrote several hit songs, including "The End of the World" (popularized by Skeeter Davis), "Mama" (a hit for Connie Francis), "Lollipops and Roses" (made famous by Jack Jones and later a signature song for the Chordettes), and "Playboy."

Kent also collaborated with other lyricists such as Mann Curtis. He composed music for films and television, contributing to the soundtracks of various productions. His songs have been recorded by a diverse range of artists, demonstrating the broad appeal and enduring quality of his songwriting.
