Hugh MacDonald (Scottish politician)
Hugh MacDonald (born 1948) is a Scottish Labour politician who served as a Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for the Central Scotland region from 1999 to 2016.
MacDonald was educated at St Patrick's High School, Coatbridge. Before entering politics, he worked as a sheet metal worker.
He was first elected to the Scottish Parliament in 1999 and re-elected in 2003, 2007 and 2011. During his time in parliament, he served on various committees, including the Enterprise and Culture Committee and the Local Government and Regeneration Committee. He was a vocal advocate for workers' rights and social justice issues.
MacDonald stood down at the 2016 Scottish Parliament election.
