Rex Ryan

Rex Ryan (born December 13, 1962) is an American football coach and sports analyst. He is best known for his tenures as the head coach of the New York Jets (2009-2014) and the Buffalo Bills (2015-2016).

Ryan began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Eastern Kentucky University and later held various assistant coaching positions at New Mexico Highlands University, Morehead State University, and the University of Cincinnati. He transitioned to the NFL in 1999 as the defensive line coach for the Baltimore Ravens. Under his guidance, the Ravens' defense became one of the most dominant in the league, culminating in a Super Bowl XXXV victory in 2001. He served as the Ravens' defensive coordinator from 2005 to 2008.

In 2009, Ryan was hired as the head coach of the New York Jets. He quickly gained popularity for his outspoken personality and confidence, famously predicting that the Jets would win the Super Bowl. He led the Jets to two consecutive AFC Championship Game appearances in 2009 and 2010, but the team ultimately failed to reach the Super Bowl. After several seasons without playoff appearances, Ryan was fired by the Jets after the 2014 season.

Ryan was hired as the head coach of the Buffalo Bills in 2015. He was fired by the Bills before the end of the 2016 season after failing to improve the team's performance significantly.

Following his coaching career, Ryan has worked as a sports analyst for ESPN. He is known for his energetic and opinionated commentary.
