Alecto (motorcycle)

Alecto was a British motorcycle manufactured by Alecto Motorcycles of Upper Grove Place, London, from approximately 1919 to 1924. The company produced motorcycles primarily using proprietary engines from other manufacturers, notably Villiers and JAP. Alecto motorcycles were generally lightweight and aimed at the more affordable end of the market, often featuring two-stroke engines. Known models included those with Villiers 269cc two-stroke engines and others with JAP 293cc engines. Production numbers are believed to have been relatively small, and surviving examples are now rare. The marque is not to be confused with the mythological Alecto, one of the Greek Furies.
