Albert Park (Suva)

Albert Park is a large public park located in Suva, the capital of Fiji. It holds historical and cultural significance, having been the site of several important events in Fijian history.

The park is named after Prince Albert, the husband of Queen Victoria. It has been used for various purposes over the years, including sporting events, public gatherings, and recreational activities. Cricket and rugby are commonly played on its grounds.

A notable event that occurred at Albert Park was the burning of the original plane "Southern Cross" flown by Australian aviator Sir Charles Kingsford Smith in 1935. This was done to prevent the aircraft from falling into the hands of potential enemies before World War II.
