ABV (TV station)

ABV was a television station owned and operated by the Australian Broadcasting Commission (later Corporation). It broadcast to the regional Victorian town of Shepparton and the surrounding Goulburn Valley area. ABV began broadcasting on December 19, 1961.

It was a relay of the ABC's metropolitan Melbourne station, ABV-2, meaning it largely broadcast the same programming. As such, ABV did not produce its own local news bulletin or significant local programming, although it did sometimes provide local information inserts.

With the introduction of aggregation in regional Victoria in 1992, ABV was replaced by the ABC's national regional service, ABC Regional (now ABC TV). The frequency previously used by ABV was then used to broadcast ABC Regional. The changeover involved replacing the existing ABV transmitter with equipment for the aggregated service.
