The Bar (professional wrestling)

The Bar was a professional wrestling tag team consisting of Cesaro and Sheamus. They performed in WWE from 2016 to 2019.

Formation and Early Success (2016-2017)

The Bar was formed in the autumn of 2016 after a Best of Seven series between Cesaro and Sheamus ended in a draw. Then-Raw General Manager Mick Foley forced them to team together for a Raw Tag Team Championship match against The New Day. Despite initial animosity, Cesaro and Sheamus proved a formidable team. They won the Raw Tag Team Championship at Hell in a Cell 2016, marking their first reign as a team.

Championship Reigns and Rivalries (2017-2018)

The Bar continued to compete as a cohesive unit, developing a signature tough and aggressive wrestling style. They engaged in notable rivalries with teams such as The Hardy Boyz, Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins (The Shield), and Titus Worldwide. They won the Raw Tag Team Championship again at SummerSlam 2017 against Rollins and Ambrose and later traded the titles with them. They then won the titles a third time, making them three-time Raw Tag Team Champions.

SmackDown and Dissolution (2018-2019)

In 2018, The Bar moved to SmackDown during the Superstar Shake-up. They subsequently won the SmackDown Tag Team Championship, making them a tag team to have held both the Raw and SmackDown Tag Team titles. During their time on SmackDown, they were briefly managed by The Big Show. The Bar's run as a team ended in 2019 when Sheamus suffered a concussion and was sidelined. Cesaro was later drafted to Raw as a singles competitor, effectively ending The Bar as an active tag team.

Legacy

The Bar is remembered for their hard-hitting style, their improbable pairing, and their multiple tag team championship reigns. They were considered one of the most consistent and successful tag teams in WWE during their active years. Their unusual alliance, born from rivalry, became a hallmark of their identity.
