1972 Grand Prix (tennis)

The 1972 Grand Prix was a series of men's professional tennis tournaments held that year. It was part of the pre-ATP Tour era, the forerunner to the modern ATP Tour, and was organized by the International Lawn Tennis Federation (ILTF). The Grand Prix circuit comprised a number of tournaments with prize money and ranking points that contributed towards the Grand Prix year-end rankings. The player who accumulated the most points throughout the year was crowned the Grand Prix champion. The year-end Masters tournament was also part of the Grand Prix circuit. The points system and specific tournament inclusion varied slightly from year to year. Arthur Ashe won the 1972 Grand Prix title, defeating Stan Smith in the final of the Masters tournament.
