Joseph Stewart (Medal of Honor)
Joseph Stewart (born c. 1840s, died November 20, 1898) was a United States Marine who received the Medal of Honor for his actions during the American Civil War. Stewart earned the medal for his bravery displayed aboard the U.S.S. Signal off Yazoo City, Mississippi, on March 5, 1864. During this engagement, he distinguished himself by conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity. Details regarding his specific actions leading to the award are generally limited to the citation.
