William Day (bishop)
William Day (died 1596) was an English clergyman and academic who served as Bishop of Winchester.
Day was educated at Eton College and King's College, Cambridge, becoming a Fellow in 1551. He held various ecclesiastical positions, including Master of St John's Hospital in Wilton, Wiltshire, and Dean of Windsor from 1561. He was also Registrar of the Order of the Garter.
Day was consecrated Bishop of Winchester in 1584, a position he held until his death in 1596. He is noted for his involvement in various matters of state and for his loyalty to Queen Elizabeth I. He resided at Farnham Castle, one of the residences of the Bishops of Winchester.
