Eupyridae

Eupyridae is a small family of sea cucumbers belonging to the order Molpadida. This family is characterized by specific skeletal elements in their body walls and tube feet, including the presence of tables and buttons. The body is generally sausage-shaped and can be various shades of pink or reddish-brown. These sea cucumbers are typically found in deep-sea environments, often buried in the soft sediments of the ocean floor. They are detritivores, feeding on organic matter found within the sediment. Their distribution is relatively widespread, but information on their specific ecological roles and abundance remains limited due to the challenges of deep-sea research. Relatively few genera and species are assigned to the Eupyridae family compared to other families of sea cucumbers.
