Zionisten
Zionisten refers to supporters of Zionism, a nationalist movement that supports the establishment and development of a Jewish state in the historical Land of Israel (roughly corresponding to Palestine). The term "Zionist" is used to describe individuals who adhere to Zionist ideology and actively work towards its goals, which have historically included Jewish immigration to Palestine/Israel and the creation and preservation of a Jewish national home.
The meaning and usage of the term "Zionist" have evolved over time and are often subject to debate. Historically, the term encompassed a broad spectrum of political and religious views concerning the character and borders of the Jewish state. Contemporary Zionists hold diverse views on issues such as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the role of religion in the state, and the boundaries of Israel.
Criticism of Zionism and accusations of antisemitism are often intertwined and complex. While criticism of Israeli government policies is generally considered distinct from antisemitism, some critiques of Zionism may cross the line into antisemitism, particularly when they deny the Jewish people's right to self-determination, employ antisemitic tropes, or hold Jews collectively responsible for the actions of the Israeli government.
The term can also be used pejoratively, often by those who oppose the existence of the State of Israel or its policies.
