David A. Thomas (educator)

David A. Thomas is an American educator and academic administrator. He is best known for his work in the fields of organizational behavior, diversity, inclusion, and leadership.

Thomas received his Bachelor of Science degree in Administrative Sciences from Yale University and his Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Organizational Behavior from Yale University's School of Management.

Throughout his career, Thomas has held faculty positions at several leading business schools, including the Harvard Business School and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He has served as Dean of the Georgetown University McDonough School of Business (2011-2016) and as President of Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia (2018-2024).

Thomas's research focuses on how organizations can create inclusive environments that allow all employees to thrive. He has written extensively on the topic of diversity, including his book, Breaking Through: The Making of Minority Executives in Corporate America, co-authored with John J. Gabarro. He has also published numerous articles in leading academic journals.
