Evolution (Boyz II Men album)
Evolution is the third studio album by American R&B group Boyz II Men, released on September 23, 1997, by Motown Records. It followed their hugely successful 1994 album II.
The album featured a blend of the group's signature harmonies and balladry with more contemporary R&B sounds. Production was handled by a variety of producers, including Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Babyface, and Dallas Austin.
Evolution spawned several singles, including "4 Seasons of Loneliness" and "A Song for Mama." "4 Seasons of Loneliness" became a number one hit on the Billboard Hot 100.
Although Evolution achieved platinum certification and reached number one on the Billboard 200 chart, it did not reach the same level of commercial success as its predecessor, II. Critical reception was mixed, with some praising the group's vocal performances and songwriting, while others found the album less innovative than their previous work.
