MacPlay

MacPlay was a division of Interplay Entertainment, established in the early 1990s, dedicated to publishing and distributing video games specifically for the Macintosh platform. At a time when the Macintosh gaming market was significantly smaller than the IBM PC compatible market, MacPlay aimed to bring popular and original titles to Mac users. They are most known for porting PC games, as well as publishing original Mac games. MacPlay also distributed games developed by other companies.

The company's portfolio included a variety of game genres, such as adventure, strategy, and simulation games. Notable titles published or distributed by MacPlay included Descent, Alone in the Dark, Castles II: Siege and Conquest, Another World, and Star Trek: 25th Anniversary. These titles helped to build a stronger gaming presence on the Macintosh and provided Mac users with access to a wider selection of games.

MacPlay's operations diminished and eventually ceased in the late 1990s, coinciding with broader shifts in the video game industry and Interplay Entertainment's own financial difficulties. While relatively short-lived, MacPlay played a significant role in the history of Macintosh gaming by helping to cultivate a market and bring popular titles to Mac users.
