Zherdevka
Zherdevka is a town and the administrative center of Zherdevsky District in Tambov Oblast, Russia. It is located on the Savala River, a tributary of the Khopyor.
History:
Zherdevka was founded in 1700 as a settlement. It gained town status in 1954.
Geography:
The town is situated in the southeastern part of the Oka–Don Plain. The climate is temperate continental.
Population:
As of the 2010 Census, the population of Zherdevka was 15,209.
Economy:
The local economy is primarily based on agriculture and food processing. There are also some industrial enterprises.
Transportation:
Zherdevka is a railway station on the Gryazi-Povorino line. It is also connected to other settlements by road.
Culture and Education:
Zherdevka has several schools, a museum, and a cultural center.
