Sugarloaf Hill (Knockmealdowns)
Sugarloaf Hill is a peak in the Knockmealdown Mountains, located on the border between County Tipperary and County Waterford in Ireland. It is one of the range's more prominent summits, identifiable by its conical, "sugarloaf" shape, which gives it its name. While not the highest peak in the Knockmealdowns (that distinction belongs to Knockmealdown itself), Sugarloaf Hill offers notable panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, including the Galtee Mountains, the Comeragh Mountains, and the Blackwater Valley.
The hill is a popular destination for hillwalkers and hikers. Various trails ascend to the summit, of varying difficulty levels. The terrain is primarily grassy and heathery, typical of the Knockmealdown range, and can be exposed to the elements.
Historically, the Knockmealdown Mountains, including Sugarloaf Hill, have been significant in local folklore and tradition. The mountains have also been used for agriculture, primarily sheep farming.
