Homi Mody

Homi Mody (1881-1969) was an Indian Parsi businessman, politician, and statesman. He was a prominent figure in the Indian independence movement and served in various administrative and diplomatic roles both before and after India's independence.

Mody was born in Bombay (now Mumbai). He was educated at St. Xavier's College, Bombay, and later at Lincoln College, Oxford. After returning to India, he became involved in business, eventually becoming a director of Tata Sons.

He entered politics and served on the Bombay Municipal Corporation, eventually becoming its President. He was a member of the Central Legislative Assembly and later the Constituent Assembly of India, playing a role in drafting the Indian Constitution.

After India's independence in 1947, Mody served as the Governor of Uttar Pradesh (then known as United Provinces) from 1949 to 1952. He subsequently served as India's ambassador to Switzerland. He was knighted in 1935, becoming Sir Homi Mody. His contributions spanned business, politics, and diplomacy, making him a significant figure in modern Indian history.
