Rory Macdonald (conductor)
Rory Macdonald (born 1989) is a Scottish conductor known for his work in opera and orchestral music.
Macdonald received his musical education at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where he studied conducting with Martyn Brabbins. He quickly gained recognition for his talent and was appointed Assistant Conductor of the Orchestre National de Lille in 2011, a position he held for three years.
His career has encompassed performances with leading orchestras and opera houses across Europe and beyond. He has conducted orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, and the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra. In the operatic realm, he has conducted productions at companies including Scottish Opera, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, and Glyndebourne.
