Atharid
Atharid refers to a hypothetical or fictional inhabitant of the planet Mercury. The term is derived from "Athar," an archaic or poetic term sometimes used for Mercury.
Similar to how "Lunarians" refer to inhabitants of the Moon, "Atharids" would logically be the inhabitants of Mercury, if any existed or were conceived of in fiction. The term sees limited use, primarily in science fiction or mythological contexts where anthropomorphic or sentient life forms are imagined inhabiting the solar system's innermost planet. Given Mercury's harsh environment (extreme temperature variations, negligible atmosphere), the concept of Atharids is generally presented as highly speculative and often involves significant biological or technological adaptations.
The term is not widely recognized in scientific discourse and exists primarily in speculative fiction and related creative works. The frequency of its appearance is much lower compared to terms for inhabitants of Mars or the Moon.
