Buried (film)
Buried is a 2010 Spanish-American thriller film directed by Rodrigo Cortés and starring Ryan Reynolds. The film premiered at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.
The film's narrative centers on Paul Conroy, an American truck driver working in Iraq. After an attack, he awakens to find himself buried alive in a wooden coffin with only a lighter, a cell phone, and a few other limited resources. The film follows his desperate attempts to escape and contact help, battling dwindling oxygen, sand, and mounting despair.
Buried is notable for its claustrophobic setting, with virtually the entire film taking place inside the coffin. It explores themes of isolation, desperation, the dehumanizing impact of war, and the failures of bureaucratic systems. Reynolds' performance garnered significant critical acclaim. The film received several awards and nominations, including a Goya Award for Best Original Screenplay.
