Bob Davis (basketball coach)
Bob Davis was an American basketball coach best known for his tenure at Auburn University. He served as the head men's basketball coach for the Auburn Tigers from 1979 to 1981.
Davis inherited a program that was struggling and faced the challenge of competing in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). His coaching record at Auburn was 23-32. While he did not achieve significant success in terms of wins and losses or postseason appearances, he is remembered for his commitment to the program during a period of transition. Prior to Auburn, Davis held coaching positions at other universities and at the high school level. Following his departure from Auburn, Davis continued to be involved in basketball, although details of his activities after his coaching career are less widely documented. His overall impact on Auburn basketball is viewed as a rebuilding phase that laid groundwork for future coaches.
