John Evan

John Evan (born John Evans, March 28, 1948) is an English musician, best known as the keyboardist for the progressive rock band Jethro Tull from 1969 to 1980.

Evan's distinctive piano and organ playing were integral to Jethro Tull's sound during their most successful period. He joined the band after playing with them briefly under the name "The John Evan Band," which also included future Jethro Tull members Jeffrey Hammond and Barriemore Barlow. He is credited on albums such as Benefit, Aqualung, Thick as a Brick, A Passion Play, War Child, Minstrel in the Gallery, Too Old to Rock 'n' Roll: Too Young to Die!, Songs from the Wood, Heavy Horses, and Stormwatch.

Following his departure from Jethro Tull, Evan largely retired from the music industry, focusing on other endeavors. He later briefly reunited with some former Jethro Tull members for occasional performances. His contributions to progressive rock and the distinctive sound of Jethro Tull have secured his place in the genre's history.
