Nyborg Municipality (1970–2006)
Nyborg Municipality was a municipality (Danish: kommune) in Denmark from 1970 to 2006. It was located on the island of Funen and was part of the County of Funen. Its administrative center was the town of Nyborg.
The municipality was established on April 1, 1970, as part of a nationwide municipal reform that reduced the number of Danish municipalities significantly. It was formed by merging the former Nyborg Town Municipality, Hjulby Parish, and Vindinge Parish.
Nyborg Municipality ceased to exist on January 1, 2007, as a result of the 2007 Danish Municipal Reform. It merged with Ørbæk Municipality and Ullerslev Municipality to form the new and larger Nyborg Municipality. The primary reason for the merger was to create larger, more sustainable administrative units better equipped to handle the responsibilities and challenges of modern local government. The old Nyborg Municipality comprised an area of approximately 128 square kilometers and, prior to the merger, had a population of around 19,000 residents.
