Born in New Rochelle, New York, Clark dedicated his artistic career to capturing the beauty and dynamism of wildlife, particularly through the medium of etching.

Clark received formal art training at the Art Students League of New York. He became a highly skilled etcher, meticulously rendering detail and texture to create evocative scenes of birds in flight, on the water, or in the fields. His work is characterized by its accuracy, artistic merit, and attention to the natural environment.

Clark's etchings were widely popular and often appeared in sporting magazines and publications. He also produced paintings, primarily watercolors and oils, on similar subjects. His work is included in numerous private and public collections, and he is considered one of the foremost sporting artists of the 20th century. His etchings are particularly sought after by collectors for their rarity and artistic quality. He authored and illustrated the book "Gunner's Dawn."
