William Hogan (American politician)
William Hogan (1792 – January 1874) was an American lawyer and politician. He served as a U.S. Representative from New York.
Born in County Clare, Ireland, Hogan immigrated to the United States and settled in New York City. He studied law and was admitted to the bar, commencing practice in New York City.
Hogan was elected as a Jacksonian to the Twenty-second Congress (March 4, 1831 – March 3, 1833). He was not a candidate for renomination in 1832.
After his term in Congress, Hogan resumed the practice of law. He was appointed master in chancery in 1840, and again in 1844, serving until 1847.
Hogan moved to Syracuse, New York, where he continued his legal practice. He died in Syracuse in January 1874, and was interred in Saint Agnes Cemetery.
