William Hansen (actor)

William Hansen (11 November 1911 – 23 January 1975) was an American actor who primarily worked in radio, television, and on the stage. He was best known for his role as the exasperated druggist, Mr. Drucker, on the NBC radio and television sitcom The Aldrich Family, a role he played for over a decade.

Born in Oakland, California, Hansen began his acting career in radio, appearing in numerous programs throughout the 1930s and 1940s. His portrayal of Mr. Drucker, a recurring character often annoyed by the antics of the titular Henry Aldrich, brought him widespread recognition. He joined the radio program in 1945 and continued with the television adaptation when it premiered in 1949.

Beyond The Aldrich Family, Hansen had a prolific career. On Broadway, he appeared in productions such as The Curious Savage and The Crucible. He also made guest appearances in several television shows, including The Philco Television Playhouse and Kraft Television Theatre.

William Hansen died in New York City in 1975. His contributions to radio and early television helped define the landscape of American entertainment during its formative years.
