We the People (band)

We the People were an American garage rock band formed in Orlando, Florida, in 1965. They are best known for their regionally popular singles, particularly "Mirror of My Mind" and "You Burn Me Up and Down."

The band's lineup consisted of David Adkins (guitar, vocals), Tom Talton (organ, vocals), Wayne Proctor (bass), and Randy Boyte (drums). Initially influenced by British Invasion bands, their music evolved to incorporate elements of psychedelia.

We the People achieved significant success in Florida and the southeastern United States, touring extensively and garnering a dedicated following. "Mirror of My Mind," released in 1966, became a local hit and remains a popular example of 1960s garage rock. "You Burn Me Up and Down" followed in 1967, further solidifying their regional popularity.

Despite their regional success, We the People were unable to break through to national prominence. They released several other singles and an album, "Mirror of Our Minds," but none achieved the same level of recognition as their earlier work. The band eventually disbanded in the late 1960s.

Despite their relatively short career, We the People are remembered as a significant contributor to the garage rock scene of the 1960s, and their music continues to be appreciated by collectors and fans of the genre. Their songs have been included on numerous compilation albums of garage rock and psychedelic music.
