In this role, Williams was instrumental in the day-to-day management of cricket in New South Wales, overseeing the organization of matches, selection of teams, and development of the sport at both amateur and professional levels. He was known for his meticulous attention to detail and strong administrative capabilities. During his tenure, the NSWCA saw considerable success, with the New South Wales Sheffield Shield team frequently vying for and winning the title.
