Venpakal
Venpakal is a classical Tamil poetic meter. It is characterized by its structure and the types of lines (adi) it contains. A Venpakal poem typically consists of four lines (kurals) and adheres to specific rules regarding the number of syllables (asai) and the arrangement of those syllables as either ner (heavy) or nirai (light). The Venpakal meter is often associated with didactic literature, philosophical works, and devotional poetry in Tamil. The emphasis on strict grammatical rules and syllabic weight contributes to its formal and structured nature. The various subtypes of Venpakal, such as Kural Venpa and Nericai Venpa, differ in their specific syllable counts and arrangements within the four lines.
