VFA-94

VFA-94, Strike Fighter Squadron 94, also known as the "Mighty Shrikes," is a United States Navy strike fighter squadron based at Naval Air Station Lemoore, California. The squadron is part of Carrier Air Wing 17 (CVW-17) and is currently equipped with the F/A-18F Super Hornet.

Originally established as Fighter Squadron 94 (VF-94) on March 23, 1952, the squadron has a long and distinguished history, participating in numerous conflicts and operations, including the Vietnam War, Operation Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom. Throughout its history, VF/VFA-94 has flown various aircraft, including the F4U Corsair, F9F Panther, F-8 Crusader, F-4 Phantom II, and the F/A-18 Hornet before transitioning to the Super Hornet.

The "Mighty Shrikes" squadron emblem features a shrike bird, a predatory songbird known for impaling its prey on thorns or sharp objects. The squadron's mission is to project power ashore and at sea, providing air superiority, strike, and close air support capabilities to the Navy's carrier strike group. They routinely deploy aboard aircraft carriers as part of a carrier air wing, contributing to U.S. Navy's global presence and combat readiness.
