Uhrovec

Uhrovec is a village in Bánovce nad Bebravou District, Trenčín Region, in western Slovakia. It is located approximately 10 kilometers northeast of Bánovce nad Bebravou.

Uhrovec is known historically for two notable figures: Ľudovít Štúr, a Slovak writer, philosopher, linguist, and politician who codified the Slovak language, was born here in 1815. Alexander Dubček, a Slovak politician and briefly the leader of Czechoslovakia during the Prague Spring of 1968, was also born in Uhrovec in 1921. The birthplace of both Štúr and Dubček is a national cultural monument, forming the Štúr and Dubček Memorial Museum, which commemorates their lives and contributions.

The village also features a Roman Catholic church dedicated to Saint Anne and is surrounded by the Strážovské vrchy mountain range, offering opportunities for hiking and outdoor activities. The village is also known for its traditional folk architecture and crafts.
